Tulsa Area Music Teachers is the local affiliate for OMTA and MTNA. Currently we have over eighty piano, vocal and instrumental teachers who enjoy the benefits of connecting with other Tulsa area teachers, as well as the continuing education opportunities and student activities we offer. Our monthly luncheon meetings are held at Travis Mansion, the headquarters of the Tulsa Historical Society. Programs feature presentations on teaching issues and two student honor recitals (March and May). Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of October, November, January, February, April and May. The March meeting is scheduled around Spring Break.

Every September we offer Oklahoma teachers the opportunity to attend a Saturday workshop with a well-known clinician. Examples of past clinicians are Nelita True, Martha Hille, Jennifer Linn, and Melody Bober. Non-TAMTA members may attend for just $10.00. A catered lunch will be offered for a reasonable additional fee.

TAMTA provides a referral service through its website, as well as local performance opportunities for students, in addition to OMTA events. OMTA events held in Tulsa include the Junior Competitions, Senior Competitions, and the District Achievement Auditions and Theory Tests. TAMTA events include the TAMTA Festival, Young Musicians AuditionRecital, Sonatina Competition, Spindler Piano Awards Competition, and Scholarship Audition for graduating senior and students wishing to attend a summer music camp. The Holiday Showcase is held in December at Promenade Mall, and raises funds for Family and Children Services of Tulsa while providing a fun and relaxed performance environment for students.
