OMTA Young Artist Competition
The OMTA Young Artist Competition has a variety of categories for undergraduate and graduate students. Winners will appear in recital at the State Conference.
Marilyn Witcher Junior Honor Competition
The Marilyn Witcher Junior Honor Competition allows OMTA teachers to enter fifth and sixth-grade pianists and instrumentalists aspiring to be young artists in a competitive event to build confidence in performing repertoire needed to prepare for and enter the MTNA Junior Performance Competitions in the following years.
Senior Competition
The Senior Competition provides students in school grades 9-12 (piano, orchestral instruments, and voice) with the opportunity to perform in a competitive setting, advance to a final round and perform in recital at the State Conference.
District Achievement Audition and State Achievement Audition
Each spring, OMTA offers District Achievement Auditions for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Students perform in a non-competitive setting in order to recognize individual achievement without comparison or contrast with other students of similar age and/or length of study. Qualification for the State Achievement Audition in May is based upon the District Achievement rating.
Theory and Aural Awareness Test
The Theory and Aural Awareness test is a yearly assessment of a student’s knowledge of written theory and listening skills. Participation is open to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Theory test levels are determined by the teacher. Teachers administer the theory test to their students in March.
