Guidelines for Presiders
Prior to the session’s beginning:
- Find out if the clinician needs water and obtain.
- Work out what kind of signal s/he wants when it is getting close to time for the session to wrap up. If a master class with more than one participant, this is very important so that each performer receives adequate time. If the clinician wants a Q/A time, also work out a signal.
- Check with monitors to make sure they have the handouts.
- Be ready to facilitate any last minute or emergency requirements of the session. Beginning the session:
- Ask that attendees turn off cell phones and pagers.
- Make a short introduction of the clinician. Refer to the program book bio. Ending the session:
- Keep the session within the time limits, using your prearranged signal to the clinician.
- It may be appropriate to thank the clinician for the session. Feel free to use your own style!
- If another event follows, it’s always nice to mention that!
